Canada Organic Regime (COR) - With NOP and EU Equivalency
The CSI offers organic certification to the Canada Organic Regime with equivalency to the US's National Organic Program (NOP) and the EU's Organic Regulations. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) amended regulation on organic products was published on June 4, 2009 and came into effect on June 30, 2009. The Organic Regulations are maintained on the Standards Council of Canada webite here. The Canada Organic Standards (COS) are organized into two parts.
- Part I: Organic Production Systems General Principles and Management Standards (CAN/CGSB-32.310-2006) - provides a detail of the practices that are acceptable in organic agricultural production and processing systems.
- Part II: Organic Production Systems Permitted Substances Lists (PSL) (CAN/CGSB-32.311-2006) - provides a list of the substances that are permitted for use in the Canada Organic Regime.
The CSI is an organic Certification Body accredited by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. For more information on the Canada Organic Regime, click here.
