CSI Response to COVID-19 Pandemic

Thursday, March 19, 2020

As of today, the COVID-19 pandemic is continuing to spread in Canadian communities, and unfortunately as the pandemic grows, so does the risk of exposure to you and our inspectors.  This is a challenging time for us all as we face the impacts of the COVID-19 virus on our personal lives, on our work lives, and on our communities.  Given the risks and the potential impacts, CSI has decided to take measures to help reduce the risk of spreading the virus and to help protect the health and safety of you, our staff, and our inspectors.  We have asked our organic inspectors to postpone all organic inspections that they have scheduled on behalf of CSI.  The inspectors have been directed to refrain from scheduling any on-site inspections until at least after April 20th.

It is impossible to know how the status of the pandemic in Canada will change over the next month.  If the pandemic persists in our communities for more than a month from today, then we will be implementing other measures such as desk audits or remote inspections, or a combination of those activities with a delayed on-site inspection. We will advise you of CSI’s policy moving forward in a month’s time. It is important that we balance the requirements to continue to confirm compliance with the Canada organic standards while maintaining the health and safety of our inspectors and our clients.

We wish you and your families all the best, and most importantly we wish you good health in the challenging days ahead of us.

If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please do not hesitate to send us an email or give us a call.

Stay Healthy!
